About Jade Primer
Jade Primer is a small reference site about jade: the two minerals sold under that name, their colors and grades, how they are priced, and how to tell an untreated stone from a treated or imitation one.
Much of what is worth knowing about jade is discussed in Chinese, by cutters, dealers and collectors who handle the stone every day, and little of it reaches English pages. The articles here are built from that body of practice. Each claim is checked against a second independent source or against published gemological references before it is used, and anything that could not be confirmed is left out.
The site is written for people outside the trade: someone who inherited a bangle, is about to buy a pendant, or wants to understand why one green stone costs a hundred times more than another. It does not sell jade and does not appraise individual pieces. For a stone of real value, a report from a gemological laboratory is the only reliable answer.
Traditional beliefs about jade are described as beliefs. Nothing here is medical advice.
